ND crash kills 2, shuts down highway

CARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) — A head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a semitrailer near Carrington killed both drivers and forced the closure of U.S. Highway 52 for about 8 1/2 hours.

CARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) — A head-on collision involving a pickup truck and a semitrailer near Carrington killed both drivers and forced the closure of U.S. Highway 52 for about 8 1/2 hours.

The Highway Patrol says the pickup driven by 46-year-old Steve Peterka of Burnsville, Minn., veered into the wrong lane about 1 1/2 miles west of Carrington about 3 p.m. Thursday, causing the crash with the semi driven by 63-year-old Fred Riddle of Gillette, Wyo.

There were no passengers in either vehicle.
