More arrests than usual at the 2010 Red River Valley Fair

West Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - It's only four days old, but there have been 34 arrests at the Red River Valley Fair.

Captain Rick Majerus says most have been alcohol related: underage drinking, minors trying to get into bars or contributing to minors. Total arrests in 2009 were 59.

This year, Friday alone had almost two dozen. Majerus says he's not sure why the spike. He says they have the same amount of enforcement as years past.

"I don't know what to attribute that to, we try to do our education and obviously people know that it's not good to drink and drive or be underage and drinking but hopefully the message gets out."

Because of "two" fairs going on this upcoming weekend, the sheriff's department will be using the help of the reserves.
