HETTINGER, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota Highway Patrol is trying to determine why a truck driver lost control on a gravel road and collided with a tree, killing his passenger.
The accident happened Friday night around 10:30 in southwest North Dakota about seven miles north of Hettinger.
The Patrol says 66-year-old Edward Quamme of Hettinger lost control of his 1986 Chevrolet. The truck swerved to the left and then back to the right before entering the east ditch and striking a large tree.
Quamme's passenger, 52-year-old Debra Doerr of Hettinger, was killed in the crash.
Quamme was taken to an area hospital before being transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Bismarck.
