FOLEY, Minn. (AP) — A jury has convicted a St. Cloud man of murder for fatally shooting an acquaintance at a card game last winter.
The Benton County jury deliberated for about 3 1/2 hours before finding 47-year-old Leun Thongpasom guilty of second-degree murder Tuesday.
Thongpasom shot 43-year-old Ki Nahouakhong (ky nah-HOO'-ah-kong) on Feb. 21 during a card game at a mobile home park. Nahouakhong was shot once in the chest and died after being taken to a hospital.
Thongpasom contended that he acted in self-defense. Thongpasom brought the gun to the game and fired it after he and the victim got into an argument that turned physical.
