Ex-Minn. girls hockey coach acquitted

STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — A jury has acquitted a former Park of Cottage Grove High School girls hockey coach accused of having sex with two of his former players.

STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — A jury has acquitted a former Park of Cottage Grove High School girls hockey coach accused of having sex with two of his former players.

The Washington County jury acquitted 32-year-old Eric Darwitz on Tuesday.

Darwitz was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct by a person of authority. He was accused of having sex with two 16-year-old girls who were Park hockey players.

Darwitz had been the girls' hockey coach at Park. He left the job shortly before the alleged August 2006 incident at his former Woodbury home. Defense attorney Earl Gray argued that Darwitz was no longer a legally defined authority figure over the girls.
