CARRINGTON, N.D. (AP) — Construction has begun on a new water treatment plant in Carrington.
Mayor Don Frye says it's the final phase of a project that began eight years ago. It included a new well, improvements to two existing wells and the replacement of the water main between the plant and the city.
The $6.9 million plant will have the capacity to treat 1.1 million gallons of water each day. It will serve Carrington and some rural water groups.
The project received a federal grant of nearly $1 million and a federal loan of $4 million. It's scheduled to be complete in November 2011.
