EXCELSIOR, Minn. (AP) — Two 15-year-old boys were arrested in Hennepin County after a homemade bomb was found outside a church and school in Excelsior.
Police were called to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and School Saturday about 3 a.m. after receiving a report of some young males loitering outside the building.
Officers say they found the explosive propped against a storage area door handle near the school entrance. Police say they also found a pellet gun, fireworks and marijuana.
The Minneapolis Police Department bomb squad disarmed the explosive.
The Star Tribune says the boys were found hiding in some nearby bushes. Investigators say bomb-making material was found at the house of one of the teens.
