Authorities expect many people to show up to homes claiming to be contractors. Even though they'll look the part, some will do poor work for less money.
In a disaster, it's easy for scammers to get paid, do a slack job, and then leave before the poor work is exposed. Wadena is now pre-screening all contractors to make sure they're licensed and insured.
“We'll ask you to send a copy of your license so we have that and then we'll be supplying a list of those vendors those contractors to the public that they can call when they need some assistance.”
Volunteers are need for cleanup this week. You can call (218) 640 - 3432 to help. A tornado relief fund has been set up at Mid-Central Federal Savings Bank in Wadena.
