Man who died after half-marathon identified

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The man who died after running a half-marathon in Duluth has been identified.

DULUTH, Minn. (AP) — The man who died after running a half-marathon in Duluth has been identified.

Family members say 64-year-old Norman Ruth of Hermantown was treated in the medical tent after finishing the Garry Bjorklund Half-Marathon Saturday. He was taken to the hospital where he died.

Organizers of the race, held in conjunction with Grandma's Marathon, say it was the first fatality in the 34-year history of the event.

Ruth's wife, Betty Jeanne, told the Duluth News Tribune a funeral service will be held Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Duluth.
