Crookston's newest business sits in a parking lot right off of Broadway begging for your attention. K9 Kruiser Mobile Dog Groomers was the idea of Marcia Locke's.

Marcia Locke "People call me Pearl."

Pearl says she got the idea this spring during a visit to Fargo.

Pearl: "I was at a stop light and a bus pulls up beside me, and says Paw and Spa Mobile Dog Grooming."

Already owning a truck, Pearl and her husband put their shears in gear. They equipped it with the bare bone necessities, including a generator, water heater, tub, and A.C. On the truck printed next to their name "K9 Kruiser", there is a disclaimer that read “their business has gone to the dogs,” but not literally.

Pam Beachane: “It's been wild.”

Marcia Locke: “The bus sells itself. They see it and they pull over, they ask, they call.

We can go anywhere with it right to the persons door.”

Pearl says she was not surprised by number of people who want their canines cut.

Marcia Locke: “Sometimes it is two to three hours process, then to have to come back and get their dog. So if we could do it while they are working.”

Pam Beachane: “And a lot of people don't like putting animals in their car.”

The K9 Kruiser will roll out of Crookston to chase other shaggy dogs in mentor and Red Lake Falls in the next couple of weeks. Pearl says business has been very good. Grooming appointments are booked for the next couple of weeks.
