The DNR hopes to introduce first-time visitors to the parks and reconnect youth to the outdoors.
More than 50 special events for park visitors of all ages will be taking place statewide. Examples include a fly fishing workshop at William O'Brien State Park and a family outdoor fair at Whitewater State Park.
Many parks offer free loaner gear, such as GPS units for geocaching, as well as kits for birding, fishing and children's activities.
