Day two of the NCAA Track Championships(WDAY Sports) - Day two at the NCAA Track Championships saw the grueling heptathlon come to a conclusion. NDSU's Whitney Carlson and Heather Zander are both hoping for a strong performance in the final 3 events.

Last up was the 800 meters, Zander ran a great race. Carlson though pulled out, more on that in a sec. The Mandan native saved her best for last as she set a school record for points in the heptathlon. She finished 3rd in her heat in the 800 with a time of 2:20.25.
Meanwhile in the 1500 meters, Perham native Gabriele Anderson ran a terrific race for the Gophers. Near the lead several times, she ran it in 4:13.45, which was the 2nd best time.
In the heptathlon, Brianne Tiesen from Oregon wins Zander finishes 9th and earns all American honors. She is the 2nd Bison to ever do that. Carlson pulled out after she injured her back in the javelin. No word yet if she'll compete in the long jump final Saturday. Anderson races Saturday in the 1500 final.
