Handwritten letters ask senators to vote against the Murkowski Resolution

(WDAY TV) - A group of concerned North Dakotans is sending 15-hundred handwritten letters to Senators Dorgan and Conrad.

Members of "Re-power North Dakota" hope the letters will convince the senators to vote against a resolution, they say, will slow down the push for clean energy.

The group put the letters in two big boxes, and then hauled them up to the senators' offices at the downtown post office in Fargo this morning.

The senate is set to vote on the Murkowski resolution tomorrow. It's an idea from an Alaskan senator. Repower North Dakota members say the resolution will prevent the EPA from putting new regulations on the Clean Air Act.

“We have regulatory agencies for a reason and they need to be able to enforce. We don't argue that they should legislate the rules.”

Senators Conrad and Dorgan have been said to be on the fence about the Murkowski resolution.
