BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A coal company has asked for an informal conference with North Dakota regulators regarding erosion on a section line road at a mine near Center.

BNI Coal faces a $1,250 fine.

Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer says the company built a culvert that led to the erosion on the road that is accessible to the public. He says inspectors discovered the hazard during a routine check of the mine in April.

Cramer says BNI coal blocked off the road and began repairs after the discovery.
