Fields in Page fill up with rain water

Page, ND (WDAY TV) - Mother Nature has left scars in Northwestern Cass County after some recent heavy rains. Fields filled with water, roads are washed out and a simple commute is now much longer than usual.

This was the scene on Tuesday near Page North Dakota. Rain water filled the fields, now that much of it is dried up. The wounds of the water are felt by the people who live here and the roads they travel on.

Ardelle Baruevold: "Oh it was just terrible there was so much water."

Ardell and Forrest Barudevold live in Rural Page. The road to get to their house is among the 15-20 stretches of road that were under water this week in Cass County. This is county road one, where a six foot deep hole in the road is blocking drivers easy way in and out of town.

Ardelle Baruevold: "It was never this bad".

It’s been at least a week since the mail has been delivered to their home, and the Baruevolds need to take a thirty mile detour to get to the nearest city, Valley City. Ardelle's husband Forrest seems to have a more modest outlook about things…

Forrest Baruevold: "Nothing you can do about it, its just there."

Ardelle Baruevold "Isolated, yea that's bad you know, not good."

With a chance of rain tomorrow night more water could fill the fields and pile up on roads that have yet to dry out. Cass County engineers say they won't get in to assess the damage until Tuesday or Wednesday next week. They say it'll take about 3 days to repair the damage to county roads.
