Fargo doctor arrested for resisting officer

A Fargo physician posted bond Saturday after he was arrested by a bike patrol officer in-vestigating a call about suspicious activity in which it appeared people were urinating in public.

Fargo police arrested Dr. Thomas Matzke of Fargo, who practices dermatology for MeritCare, on suspicion of resisting arrest.

According to police:

At 2:05 a.m., police received a call about suspicious activity near the Sports Bar in downtown Fargo.

A bike patrol officer responded and saw five people, at least some who appeared to be urinating outside. The group ran, but the officer caught two people, Sgt. Jeff Skuza said.

Matzke, 35, was arrested for resisting the officer while the other person was let go after being identified by police. It was unclear at the time whether the person identified had been urinating, Skuza said.

Three people avoided capture by police and Matzke was not arrested for urinating in public, police said.

Cass County Jail records show Matzke was booked into the jail at 2:50 a.m. on a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest. Matzke posted $500 bond and was released at 3:56 a.m.
