New questions after Minn. mom charged with abuse

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Court documents raise a troubling question about a Minneapolis woman who allegedly looked on as her boyfriend whipped her 6-year-old son with a cord.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Court documents raise a troubling question about a Minneapolis woman who allegedly looked on as her boyfriend whipped her 6-year-old son with a cord.

Records say 31-year-old Jacquelyn Wander Williams also had a previous son who died in Chicago in 1999. Hennepin County prosecutors say that 8-month-old had nine broken bone and four internal injuries.

There were never any charges in connection with that death. Williams' relatives say they want to know why.

Williams is now charged with first-degree assault in connection with the May 18 beating of her 6-year-old. Also charged is her boyfriend, 37-year-old Troy Lamont Clay of Brooklyn Center.

Both were in the county jail Saturday, where a jail official said they couldn't take a phone call for comment.
