The 3.1 mile course started at the Fargodome, passed El Zagal and 19th Avenue North, before ending at the dome. The 5 k is usually the day of the Marathon. For the first time ever, organizers moved it to the day before to help with traffic congestion.
Some closures to keep in mind tonight for tomorrow's marathon races. University Drive at 19th will close down at 5 a.m. And will remain closed for the duration of the races. Streets will close down progressively as runners make their way through the route.
There will be volunteers and extra police officers along the route to help direct traffic. The full 26 mile marathon is expected to last about 7-hours and marathon organizers and police are warning people who drive on the north side to be aware of delays.
“And that's the biggest of the races, in terms of participants, so that's the one that would probably hinder traffic the most.”
The 10k race starts at 7 am, the half marathon starts at 7:30, and the full marathon starts at 8.
