PINE CENTER, Minn. (AP) - Authorities say a 3-year-old boy is hospitalized after being shot in the neck by his 8-year-old brother.

The Crow Wing County sheriff's office says the boys were playing in their parents' bedroom Monday afternoon in the town of Pine Center, southeast of Brainerd. A loaded .22-caliber rifle was leaning against the wall.

The sheriff's office says the 8-year-old picked up the rifle to look at it, and the gun discharged, striking the 3-year-old in the neck.

KSAX-TV reports the boy was flown to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, where he's listed in stable condition. The Crow Wing County sheriff's office is still investigating.
