New Ulm boy, 2, recovering after tree falls on himNEW ULM, Minn. (AP) - A two-year-old New Ulm boy is recovering from serious injuries after the top half of a 60-foot-tall tree fell on him in his family's backyard.
The grandfather of Henry Albrecht tells the Journal of New Ulm the little boy will recover from the Monday mishap that's left him with a broken leg and in a body cast.
Albrecht family members were in the back yard of the family's home Monday morning when they heard the tree crack and saw it fall on Henry. His father, Luke Albrecht, is an emergency room physician and performed rescue breathing on his son after the incident. He was transported by helicopter to Hennepin County Medical Center.
New Ulm Police say windy conditions and the tree's advanced age may have both been factors.
