No new reports of scam using Mayor Walaker's re-election campaign

Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - An update on the scam using Mayor Walaker re-election campaign. Police say they haven't had any more reports.

Sergeant Mark Lykken says he thinks Walaker may have solved the problem himself, by coming forward and alerting the public.

Police say there are hundreds of scams out there, and people should be skeptical of anyone who calls and asks for money.

“They're playing on your confidence to trust them, and we're all trusting people in the Midwest here, and so you're going to write a check and they're hoping that you won't follow up to check on it.”

Lykken says in scamming cases, it's nearly impossible for police to recover the money.
