Downstream communities express concern over diversion

(WDAY TV) - More downstream concerns tonight, this time from people living in Argusville, Reiles Acres, and North River.

Leaders and citizens from those three areas sat down with Cass County officials tonight, to ask questions and talk about concerns. Some in Argusville say they're worried about more water coming their way faster.

They also wonder a diversion will make the overland flooding they get harder to handle, because of extra water from the Red. Leaders are also not on board yet with a county wide sales tax to fund the project.

“Even though I'm living completely outside the diversion, I’m helping pay for it because I do business in Fargo, along with everybody else from a 50 mile radius of the city.”

Cass County leaders say they understand the hesitation about a county wide sales tax, but they say it's the fastest and easiest way to raise the money needed.
