FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The chief fundraiser for North Dakota State University says Fargo police had no cause to make a February traffic stop in which he was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk.
Police said a wide turn was the reason Jim Miller was stopped. Miller said in municipal court Monday that the wide turn was a result of snow blocking a lane.
The executive director of NDSU's Development Foundation also is seeking to have some evidence suppressed. Judge Thomas Davies said he expects to issue a ruling within a week.
Miller came under fire last fall during discussion about cost overruns with the new NDSU president's house, a project overseen by the Development Foundation. Miller has worked for the foundation since 1982.
