Walker taken from 82-year old Moorhead woman

Moorhead, Minn. (WDAY TV) - An 82-year old grandmother from North Moorhead is not too happy with a thief or "clean-up week scavenger" who took something she desperately needs; her walker. Alice Eldred uses that walker for outdoor strolls around her block, but it disappeared after Alice did a quick chore and left it alone for jut a minute.

Alice Eldred of North Moorhead is as independent as it gets. At 82, she still drives and maintains a meticulous home and yard, but she also likes to use a walker like this one to go around the block every day. But now, thanks to boulevard scavenger or thief, the walker is missing.

Alice was just about to begin her walk when she realized she didn't put out the garbage for the next day. She was only gone a couple of minutes and when she returned the walker was gone.

“I was very disappointed and angry because I thought it was late in the day the avenue has been cleaned there was no reason for it to be gone.”

But there is more to the story. Its not just the walker, Alice had a bag attached to that walker.

“That is what I am worried about. Not the walker, but the little white bag on the walker's handle and I am worried about that not being in my possession any longer.”

With so many people out scavenging boulevards, Alice hopes it was an honest mistake.

“Cried on my neighbor's shoulder and there was nothing I could do. It was gone.”

She would love to get it back. Those afternoon walks are too risky without it. If you know the whereabouts of Alice's walker and bag, contact us at WDAY or Moorhead Police.
