DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — Sen. Kent Conrad says the Devils Lake flooding situation has the attention of one of the top two officials in Washington.

DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) — Sen. Kent Conrad says the Devils Lake flooding situation has the attention of one of the top two officials in Washington.

The North Dakota Democrat says that when Vice President Joe Biden served in the Senate, he and Biden would often talk about Devils Lake. He says Biden has continued to follow the issue even after becoming second-in-command at the White House.

Devils Lake has risen about 27 feet, hit record levels and tripled in size since 1993 because of a series of wet years, causing hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. Federal Emergency Management Agency Administrator Craig Fugate is to visit the area on Monday as part of a flood conference.
