STANLEY, N.D. (AP) — A 20-year-old Stanley man is in custody after a shooting in the northwest North Dakota city.

Twenty-year-old Geoffrey Goettle (GET'-uhl) is accused of shooting a 23-year-old Kenmare man in the leg with a small-caliber rifle on Wednesday.

Police Chief Kris Halvorson says Kenneth Mariner was taken to a Minot hospital for treatment. His condition is not being released.

No details of the shooting have been released. Goettle made his first court appearance Thursday on charges of aggravated assault and discharging a firearm in city limits, and was ordered back in court on May 27.
