Members want to know the group's financial state, since it owes the city 1.4 million dollars in special assessment fees.
Horse Race North Dakota was granted an extension on payment in 2008. Originally, when the park first opened, leaders and city officials struck a deal to use the special assessments to develop the park.
But, things didn't go as planned at the horse park and more time was needed to pay the bills. Now, members of the finance committee want to know where the park stands.
“They are long term development plans and as a result sometimes they take longer to mature and in this case. This is one that seems to be having some trouble so we're just continuing to monitor that.”
Payment of the 1.4 million dollar special assessments isn't due until 2012.
