Fire destroys two small farm buildings

(WDAY TV) - The wicked wind hampered a fire fight that destroyed two small farm buildings on property owned by two Fargo Police officers. It happened at 12-83 200TH Avenue North in rural Georgetown around 3:15 this afternoon.

Jessica and Chris Burgum were not home. Ten firefighters from Felton, Perley, and Hendrum battled the flames and thick smoke.

It appears the wind fanned embers from a manure pile that had been burned two days ago. Two buildings with animal stalls were destroyed.

β€œAnd the structures were already down to the foundation when we got here. The winds are a big contributor to that. When something starts in a wind like this, it goes fast.”

Reportedly, a car burned down the house on the same property about ten years ago. That was before the Burgum's owned the land. They declined comment.
