Fargo Police ask people to beware of "secret shopper" scam
Fargo, ND (WDAY TV) - A Fargo woman is the latest victim of a Craiglist employment scam and police are asking people to beware.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
It was for a "secret shopper" job.
Police say she was sent a 4-thousand dollar check to buy goods at a local retail store and evaluate the customer service. She then had to wire the rest of the money back to the employer.
But, police say, the check was from a closed account, leaving her to repay the thousands of dollars. Police say it's nearly impossible to get your money back once you've wired it.
