First of four presidential candidates arrives at NDSUFargo, ND (WDAY TV) - The first NDSU presidential candidate has arrived in Fargo. He addressed the former president's scandal and says the university needs to focus on its relationship with the state.
The first candidate to come here to NDSU for on campus interviews is Dr. Dean Bresciani. He's a Texas A & M professor and the former Vice President of Student Affairs there. He calls being with students an intoxicating experience and says his non-traditional and robust career will make him the best fit for here at NDSU.
This Napa Valley, California native has worked everywhere from university administration, admissions, and media relations. He recently resigned from the Vice President of Student Affairs at Texas A & M after what he calls a "reorganization" after a new leader took over. He still teaches finance there.
Bresciani says a key issue is maintaining the relationship between the university and state of North Dakota and he says the issues over the president's house need to be addressed to move forward.
DR. BRESCIANI: "I can't fix what's happened in the past, we'll obviously need to deal with that, but my excitement and enthusiasm is about NDSU's progress to date and what's going to happen in the future. And we'll manage anything that comes in the way during that process."
Bresciani spent much of his career in the upper Midwest, so today he says feels like coming home. Three more candidates will come to campus. The next candidate will interview on Friday.
