Security cameras catch images of meteor

(WDAY TV) - We're getting in new images of the meteor that screamed though the night sky in the Midwest Wednesday night. This video came from a security camera in Cedar Rapids Iowa where the meteor appeared to be a huge fireball in the sky.

And this video is from a police car in Wisconsin. Experts say every night, about six meteors hit Earth's atmosphere every hour. This time the only difference was that people were still up at the time and possibly its size.

"Well, a typical meteor is about the size of a grain of sand. If this thing was about the size of a gold ball or a tennis ball, we're talking millions of times the mass of a typical meteor, which is why we got something that was so bright."

There were reports of the meteor from Iowa, Wisconsin Illinois, Minnesota, The Dakotas, and Michigan. Becker County even got some calls from concerned residents.
