Sargent Co. Sheriff's Department investigates three suspicious fires

Milnor, Minn. (WDAY TV) - The Sargent County Sheriff's Department is investigating three suspicious fires that happened early this morning.

The first call came in at 1:45 this morning for a structure fire a mile-and-a-half west of Milnor on Highway 13. A passerby saw the fire and called police.

A short time later, firefighters were called to another structure fire about half-a-mile north of the first fire. Then, crews responding to the calls spotted a 3rd fire, a grass fire about 3 miles west and 2 miles south of Milnor.

The structures were abandoned and are a total loss. Sargent County Sheriff Travis Paeper says the fires are suspicious and likely connected.

It's not clear how they started, but a state Fire Marshal will be called in to investigate. The Gwinner Fire Department also responded. No one was hurt.
