NDSU dismisses 2 players from football team

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The North Dakota State University football team has dismissed two players who are charged in a theft ring. Defensive end Garrett Johnson and defensive tackle Greg Reid Jr. had been suspended earlier.

Johnson, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound sophomore from Chaska, Minn., started all but one game last season. Reid, a 6-foot-1, 273-pound redshirt freshman from Milwaukee, Wis., played in five games.

Johnson and Reid are among 12 people charged with taking as much as $150,000 in merchandise from a Best Buy store in Fargo between September and February.

Telephone numbers for Johnson and Reid could not be found. They did not immediately respond to an e-mail request for comment.
