Fargo public works director appeals dismissalFARGO, N.D. (AP) — Fargo's former public works director gave notice on Tuesday he is appealing his dismissal over charges that he violated the city's purchasing policy.
Al Weigel (WHY'-gul) will get a hearing before the city's Civil Service Commission. The city's human resources director said the hearing may take place April 13.
Weigel was fired March 26 after an investigation concluded that Weigel did not obtain bids to put global positioning locators on city trucks. He gave the contract to a company that is partly owned by Weigel's partners in another private business.
Weigel said he won't comment while his appeal is pending. He has previously denied violating city policy.
