Authorities remind drivers about overland flooding on county roads

(WDAY TV) - As many of you hit the road to come home this holiday weekend, authorities are reminding drivers to be very cautious on county roads.

Overland flooding is still a problem.

Water is moving north leading to more road closures. This is south of I-94 at Cass County Road eight.

Water is rapidly flowing over many secondary roads. Further south, near Kindred, roads that had water on them, are now no more. There is now four to five foot wide cracks where water has eroded parts of the road.

"That is a major concern for us because if somebody's traveling down those roads and is not familiar with it, they could easily bury their car into that hole."

Driving at night is even more dangerous. Authorities are telling drivers to take it slow because it will be hard to tell, even with headlights on, where the washed out spots are.
