DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – A husband and wife were hospitalized with injuries Wednesday after their vehicle collided with a stolen sport utility vehicle in Becker County, the Minnesota State Patrol said.

Phyllis Winters, 64, of Ponsford, was driving a 1996 Toyota Rav4 eastbound on Highway 34 at about 7:18 p.m. when she collided with a westbound 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee that made an abrupt left turn in front of her, the patrol said.

Winters and her husband and passenger, Ronald Winters, 67, were taken to St. Mary’s Innovis Health in Detroit Lakes with non-life-threatening injuries, the patrol said.

The Jeep, driven by 35-year-old Kelly Newton of Perham, was reported stolen and had license plates from another vehicle, the patrol said. Newton and her two passengers were not injured.
