On Friday, Eva Lynnes, the owner of "Sunrise-Sunset Preschool & Daycare" got a revocation notice. It comes after an investigation of claims that children were force-fed and handled roughly.
The claims came from staff members and at least one parent. Lynnes' attorney says the claims are exaggerations and that the facts have been taken out of context.
Allegations include that:
- Staff members had to change diapers on the floor of a shed while children played outside. In North Dakota, running water is required to be in the area during diaper changes.
- Staff say they saw Lynnes pulling girls by their pigtails.
- Several instances of rough handling reported, including yanking children by their arms, slapping hands and pushing children.
- And staff members say Eva Lynnes and her co-owner husband Greg Lynnes verbally fought in front of children.
The daycare is set to close on April 11th. Lynnes has filed an appeal. Social Service workers say it is rare for a day care center to have its license revoked in North Dakota.
