BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) - A man who fell to his death in the Mall of America Rotunda has been identified as a New York state resident.
The Hennepin County medical examiner said Thursday that 21-year-old Dakota Rey Kohler-Lander of Schenectady, N.Y., died of blunt-force injuries suffered in the fall.
Security officers were alerted Wednesday evening about man with a knife on the fourth floor. Police say that when officers approached, he climbed over a railing and fell to the ground floor.
He died at Hennepin County Medical Center. Bloomington police say Kohler-Lander appeared to have been in town visiting someone.
Cmdr. Mark Stehlik says investigators have ideas about what led to his death, but won't elaborate until the investigation is complete.
