WADENA, Minn. – A Waubun man is in critical condition after he ran a stop sign and his car was struck by an SUV north of Wadena, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

David Magee, 38, was driving a 1994 Oldsmobile just after noon Wednesday when he failed to slow down or stop for a stop sign at Highway 71 and Hubbard County 20 and was broadsided by a 2006 Toyota Highlander, the patrol said.

Magee was taken to North Country Regional Hospital in Bemidji. Alcohol was detected on Magee, the patrol said.

The SUV’s driver was treated and released.
