West Fargo school referendum rejected

WEST FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Residents of the West Fargo School District have rejected a building referendum for the second time in less than a year. The measure on the ballot Tuesday would have funded a $30 million high school and a $10 million elementary school. It needed 60 percent approval to pass and got only 57.4 percent.

The measure on the ballot Tuesday would have funded a $30 million high school and a $10 million elementary school. It needed 60 percent approval to pass and got only 57.4 percent.

School Board Vice President Karen Nitzkorski says it is disappointing because the growing district is running out of room for students.

Tuesday's vote was on a scaled-down version of last June's $65 million referendum, which garnered 51 percent support.
