Flooding reduces interstate to a single lane

(WDAY TV) - A word of warning from the North Dakota D-O-T. Southbound I-29 near Harwood is reduced to a single lane due to water on the road and northbound I-29 north of Manvel has water on the shoulders that could go over the road.

At least two vehicles have gone into the ditch, because of hydro-planing in the water. D-O-T workers say drivers should be concentrating on the road, not looking at the water as they pass by. Drivers should also be extremely careful if they drive through any amount of water.

"And the other thing to remember is your cell phone won't work once you're underwater. So if that security blanket is gone and if you're in the middle of the night and you're in the water, there's going to be quite a period of time where there won't be any traffic there to help."

A number of county roads in the region are also under water or damaged by flooding.
