BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring (GORE'-ing) is getting his third chance to be elected to his job.

North Dakota Republican convention delegates on Sunday endorsed Goehring to run for the position this fall.

Gov. John Hoeven appointed Goehring to the job in April 2009 when Democrat Roger Johnson resigned. Before that, Goehring ran twice against Johnson and lost both times.

Goehring is 44 years old. He farms and ranches near the rural community of Menoken in Burleigh County.

He had no opposition for the endorsement. North Dakota Democrats don't yet have an announced candidate to oppose Goehring. They are holding their convention next weekend in Fargo.
