Army of volunteers from Becker
Harwood, ND (WDAY TV) - It was a welcome surprise for a rural Harwood homeowner.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
When Steve Trumbauer spoke to a high school classmate about the rising water near his house, that friend threw together an army of volunteer sandbaggers from Becker, Minnesota near St. Cloud.
Today, teenagers from Becker Evangelical Free Church gathered at the Trumbauer home to fill and throw sandbags. Last year, water lapped at the base of the flood wall here and so the volunteer support for sandbagging came at a critical time.
“Blew me away that they were willing to spend off time from school to come up and help.”
Trumbauer and his neighbors south of Harwood see water from the Sheyenne River and Rush Creek.
