Crews use water to fight the Flood
Harwood, ND (WDAY TV) - Flood water is being used for flood protection. Workers from Cass County Electric filled Aqua Bags to protect a substation from the Sheyenne south of Harwood this afternoon.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
Fargo is using a new kind of flood protection in South Fargo this year. It's similar to the Hesco Barriers used last year, along 40th Avenue and 27th Street South. The city of Fargo ordered more than 7-thousand feet of the big bag system, but only deployed about 60-feet of it.
Each bag holds about one cubic yard of sand. City leaders say the future of flood fighting shouldn't rely on the thousands of volunteers.
“We're looking for places that we can potentially use or products that can help us in future flood fights and thought this would be a good location to test this product.”
The city is using the bags as a precautionary measure and will close down 40th Ave. south if needed.
