ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) - Properties along the Mississippi River near Sartell and north St. Cloud are out of immediate flooding danger after an ice jam broke free.
The St. Cloud Times reports that the ice jam restricting the Mississippi River and holding it in Little Rock Lake broke up sometime between Thursday and Friday morning.
Stearns County Emergency Management Director Marv Klug tells the newspaper the water is now flowing freely.
On Thursday, officials warned that the level of Little Rock Lake was rising fast enough to threaten lake homes. County officials made sand and sand bags available at a park in Rice for those who wanted to place them around their property.
Klug also says the Sauk River appears to be going down.
