Flooding may close Fort Snelling State Park

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - With the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers surrounding Fort Snelling State Park on the rise, officials are warning that they may need to close the park.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - With the Minnesota and Mississippi rivers surrounding Fort Snelling State Park on the rise, officials are warning that they may need to close the park.

The state emergency operations center says Thursday that low areas in the park are already flooded and closed and the main park road might go underwater by the weekend.

If that happens, the Department of Natural Resources will close the park until further notice.

The DNR is advising people to call ahead before going to the park, or checking out the "visitor alert" section of the park's Web page. The telephone number is (612) 725-2389.
