Flood waters threaten lake homes in Benton County

RICE, Minn. (AP) - Some lake homes in Benton County are in danger of being flooded because an ice jam on the Mississippi River is causing the water level of Little Rock Lake to rise.

RICE, Minn. (AP) - Some lake homes in Benton County are in danger of being flooded because an ice jam on the Mississippi River is causing the water level of Little Rock Lake to rise.

The county sheriff's department says a large ice jam near Gordon's Bridge is backing up water into the lake in central Minnesota.

Chief Deputy Troy Heck tells The St. Cloud Times that officials expect the water to rise until the ice jam breaks up. The county is making sand and sand bags available at Roseanna Beach Park in Rice for those who wish to place them around their property.
