Man killed after hitting dog on ATV
SPRING HILL TOWNSHIP, Minn. (AP) - A central Minnesota man has died in an all-terrain vehicle crash which happened after he struck and killed a dog.

Stearns County sheriff's deputies say 63-year-old Wilfred Anthony Marthaler of Paynesville was driving his ATV in Spring Hill Township Wednesday afternoon when a dog ran onto the road from a farmyard.
Marthaler struck and killed the dog, then ran off the road and into some trees. He was found lying nearby and was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital where he died from his injuries. Authorities say Marthaler wasn't wearing a helmet.
