Ice jams cause trouble for Browns Valley
Browns Valley, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Ice jams are causing concern in Browns Valley, Minnesota. Back in 2007, the community was inundated with floodwaters.By: WDAY Staff Reports, WDAY
A $4.2 million dollar diversion channel was built after that flood, but an ice jam broke a hole through the channel on Monday, allowing water to rush through.
“If we did not have this diversion channel, we would see about a foot of water on Main Street. That's more than what we saw in 2007 because you got that huge area to flood."
It cost about $200-thousand dollars to patch it up on Tuesday, but Mayor Jeff Backer says it was worth it.
