BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The U.S. House contest at North Dakota's state Republican convention is being held earlier Saturday to help some delegates deal with Red River flooding.

The convention opens at 9 a.m. Saturday in Grand Forks. At first the House contest was expected to start in the late morning, but it's been rescheduled to 10:30 a.m.

Four candidates are competing for the Republican endorsement. Kenmare businessman J.D. Donaghe (DON'-ah-gee) has the first speaking spot, followed by DuWayne Hendrickson of Minot, Public Service Commissioner Kevin Cramer and Fargo state Rep. Rick Berg.

The earlier time is meant to make it easier for delegates who may want to leave early because of flooding back home. Berg says some scheduling leeway is needed.
